Regenerative Breath- the most fundamental ingredient to heal
Regenerative Bodywork System Course: Part One
I will be talking talk about how the body works and was designed to heal itself through this Series. Parts 0 and 1 focus on increasing the ingredients needed for the physical body to be alive and cure itself.
What goes in creates life or creates depletion:
Life-creating ingredients are needed for the healing state (The same ones we need to live are the ones to heal)
We’ve already reviewed that the ingredients of physical life are simple. Air, water, food. (we also need sunshine, sleep, shelter, safety and love- but I think Love is all of them) But they have to be prioritized. Many focus on nutrition but forget the invisible things. And oxygen-rich air gets taken for granted.
Today we are going to find out why the system got starved and shut down.
We can live without Food for a month, without Water for a year but only 2-3 minutes without Air.
Breath is the foundation of life.
Air is the pump to the circulatory system as well as is the prana/the chi/life force. It pushes the blood through your system and brings vitality for cells to regenerate.
The video shares a breakdown of how to rebuild our cells, increase circulation and and put our body system into a state of healing itself. But first let’s find out why we aren’t getting enough air.
The issue:
People generally breathe in half a second all through the day. They simply aren’t getting enough oxygen to their cells to regenerate. The system is starved or severely lacking and doing its best to keep the life-sustaining parts (organs in the center of us) alive. Lack of oxygen-rich circulation can show up in numb extremities, dizziness, low energy, tiredness, long times to heal (a cut or injury that doesn’t regenerate quickly) early signs of aging as cells no longer regenerate, and many, many other things.
You cannot starve a living creature of its fundamental needs and have it feel safe. It will feel more agitated, threatened dis-regulated, and reactive. (whether we are aware of this or not) When you actively put more oxygen into the system it will calm itself, soothe itself, and have more clarity and energy to direct.
Why has this happened:
General anxiety, stress, trauma, speed of life, talking fast, and subconscious breath holding.
Masking reduced capacity and atrophied muscles (about 50% of the oxygen intake with shallow breathing for 2 years) Causing exhaustion.
Historically, people were outside and doing more physical work and walking for hundreds of generations, now we have to consciously expand and exercise the muscles with sedentary, modern life.
For people who already do breathwork, it needs to be integrated into day-to-day life rather than separated from life so that the body doesn’t go from oxygenated to starved. The lungs need to be retrained to take on more air throughout the whole day.
The Fix:
Conscientious, long slow breathing through the day will retrain the lungs to take on longer breaths. Practice inhaling to 8. and exhaling 8 with control, expanding on the inhale and softening on the exhale. Many won’t be able to do this due to muscle atrophy and constriction that has built up over decades.
Start where you are at 3 or 4. Slowly take on more strengthening the diaphragm and restretching as you go A key is not breathing up and down from the chest, but opening through the belly that will stretch the lungs bigger and expand the diaphragm outward. Do this three times (or more) a day for 10 breaths, when you wake up, when you are using the bathroom or waiting for something, and when you go to bed.
This practice is also proven to help calm a disregulated neurosystem if there are triggers or stress and will activate the neo-frontal cortex part of the brain responsible for foresight, problem-solving, collaboration, and clarity. It will literally soothe the reactive animal brain that puts us into survival-fight/flight/freeze mode.
Integrating deeper, purposeful breathing throughout the day will bring awareness, mind/body connection, higher energy lives and generally integrate longer more filling breaths through life.
Extended:
Many many breathing practices can direct your energy for conscientious healing, but first, the lungs need increased capacity, strength, and control. There are many other layers of what needs to go into the body that I will eventually break down so stay tuned.
If you missed the Sinus opening practice (nose squishing) Please review so that you can get more air into your physical body:
This is a wonderful article outlining just how amazing our body really is and how it is often totally unnecessary to superimpose anything on top of it!
Oh my this is so incredibly helpful, rich, crucial and informative. Thank you SO much🙏💗✨
