This is a fascinating and informative article about calendars and the way in which the new year originally began in spring, not winter, so that mankind's intuitive rhythms were naturally in tune with the planets and with the earth's new cycle of growth and rebirth, and how that system was changed by manipulative leaders wanting to gain more control over our lives. Thoroughly researched and thought-provoking. Well done, Megan!

There were many iterations away from the original calendars. but i did see a vision of a unified version many eons ago. I really believe so many things took us away from our natural state and rhythms but this control over time feels like a huge key. And yes... to see it was through manipulative leaders... and the repetitive energies of how to trick and twist and then make a joke out of it.... seems incredibly important for this age as well.

Ah, I love the Gregorian Calendar. So straightforward, no confusion, no complications… thank you for presenting such a wonderful treatise on this. Absolutely beautiful - your words are matched only by your own glow under a moonlit sky with no electric pollution. Happy Birthday, from one Megan to another! 😊🎉

26 Pisces♓ 13525 UCC (https://ucc.zone) erm, I think the whole point here is that Megan is saying that the Gregorian Calendar is not in sync with nature and there are better ways of doing it, no? Or did I totally misread what she was saying..?

lol, you are correct, the mistake was mine… tiredness got me and I put Gregorian instead of Perpetual… ( oh no, the SCA is going to take my AoA away! ) I do wish a return to a more naturally cyclic system… Why do the egotists in the world have to ruin everything? Anyways, sorry for the confusion! 🙏☺️

The attempted colonization of time. 🤦‍♂️ until my mid thirties I had no idea the calendar I’d grown up with wasn’t aligned with the logical measurement of relative movement. And how would we? Requires a questioning and of much of what we’ve been taught (which risks being a fool.)

I love how many people also realized that there was a manipulation of time in our Era. Ahhh the many tentacles of colonization…happy to be a fool and keep asking questions. :)

28♓ yes! many many people are now reawakening to the cycles of nature, now that we've left Kali Yuga behind (fully in 1900 CE) and are raising in consciousness again through Dwapara Yuga (Bronze Age) Ascending :) My dream is that one day soon we will finally leave the Smegorian Gregorian Calendar behind in the Kali Yuga where it belongs! "I HAVE A DREAM" haha xD

You have to travel a long emotional road to combine so well the intellect and the spiritual/intuitive/creative. In my humble opinion your calendar is as important a concept as anything I have ever seen. It is one of the great roadmaps that could guide us back to what we once were.

Thank you for understanding the importance of this remembering. If humans were tapped into the natural rhythms of this place that we are part of so much would change. My questions in meditations were “how did we get here” and then “how do we get home” and I truly think all the time wasting of New Years resolutions. And a premature birth of new cycles. Would be used to rest, go within, and imagine that spring returning. This among many other real connections would bring us back to clarity and well was We could find the go with the flow wu-Wei that the taoists spoke of so long ago We’d know who we truly were. Who we are.

Yes, a remembering! And the Great Year Cycle of the Rise and Fall of Human Consciousness, also known as 'The Yuga Cycle', really helps us to understand why we forgot and why we're now starting to remember again, because of where we are in the cycle (still quite low but ascending!) Here's a workshop I did on the topic for all those here interested in syncing with natural cycles again. Peace, love and freedom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKLYVFBrLUM

I follow the Jewish calendar too and it is fascinating to compare. although the Jewish calendar follows the moon it's still not as neat as the one pictured here but it could be that this is already after the ancient one was tweaked. actually I just googled it's called a lunisolar calendar.

here's to more connection to our earth and her beautiful cycles

Date: 28 Pisces♓ 13525 UCC*:

Yes, but the reason it is "...not as neat..." is because the Hebrew calendar actually follows the moon cycle, and the moon cycle is not neat, as in it doesn't fit neatly into a year, as the year is measured by the Sun cycle whereas the moon cycle measures months. So the moon cycle does not repeat neatly every year, it falls back 11 days each year against the Sun cycle, and so the two cycles only align once every (almost) 19 years or 235 'lunations' (lunar phase cycles from New to Full and back again).

The Hebrew Calendar inserts an extra 'month' periodically in an attempt to realign things, but basically the best way to stay in sync with nature is to follow the Solar Cycle for the Year and the Lunar Cycle for the months, then it all works. But to try to measure Years with Moons is an impossible task which will go out of sync within the first month's cycle! If you're interested you can try it and see, by actually watching the moon and keeping track of what's going on and you will see what I mean :)

The lunar phase cycle is an average of 29.5 days, whilst the lunar orbit around the earth is an average of 27.3 days. The two should not be confused. So there is no lunar cycle of exactly 28 days which is why things go out of sync if we try to force them into a neat 28 day cycle.

The Zodiac on the other hand keeps everything in sync with nature and basically is the celestial calendar and 'the b-earth chart of the earth'. (For more see *https://ucc.zone).

A BIG THANKS to Megan for writing this blog and raising these important issues of nature synchronicity. Whilst I don't go with the whole moon thing she is absolutely right in my opinion about the Gregorian slavery system and how it has been used to take us out of sync with nature, during the 'Kali Yuga' between 900 BCE and 1900 CE, and so whichever alternative calendar we resonate with and choose to adopt the main thing I would say is to BREAK-FREE of the Gregorian Roman Empire 'slavin' (7) day week' (as I call it) based system and get back in sync with nature however we choose to do that.

See y'all in the forest!! woohoo

And 'Hippy New♈Year' to y'all for the 'true' new year as Megan says which occurs on the Aries♈Equinox in 2 days time!

Peace, Love and (calendar) Freeeeeedom :)

wow cool thank you for sharing all that! so you're suggesting 2 completely different calendars for years and for months? that it shouldn't be linked to each other?

i see them like gears inside of a clock. some faster, some longer. they link together. but don't always align in our short time... The mayan calendar had this idea too. multiple spinning wheels. I think the jewish calendar also had twists and turns along the way. The further back I go. the more I find.

New Year's Day 13526 UCC: You're welcome. Well what I'm saying is if we want an accurate Year calendar we have to use the Sun cycle, as that defines the year. We can overlay the moon phases onto that calendar (as I do in the UCC) but they are not going to fit into a year in numbers of whole cycles. 12 lunations will be too short - 12 x 29.5 days = 354 days (11.2422 days less than a year) and 13 will be too long - 13 x 29.5 days = 383.5 days (18.26 days more than a year). Similarly, if we want an accurate moon phase calendar we have to use the moon phase cycle, not the solar cycle. Luni-solar calendars combine the sun and the moon cycles but major on the solar cycle to measure the year and overlay the moon phases. For example the Chinese Calendar starts it's year based on the Sun reaching 315 degrees ecliptic longitude - ie. Middle of Tropical Aquarius♒ because that marks the Middle of the Winter Season of Heat and the Start of the Spring Season of Light. But they start their celebrations on the 2nd New (Dark) Moon after the Capricorn♑Solstice and end them on the following Full Moon 15 days later, and that 15 day period encompasses the Middle of Aquarius♒ point. Moon phases do not repeat the same each year as we can see from the calculations above, but rather take 235 lunations, almost 19 years, to repeat (approximately) the same. SO basically don't use a moon calendar to measure years, it will not stay in sync. Hope that makes sense :)

We like to think that surrounding ourselves in a cocoon of technology SEPARATES US from nature, but every bit of technology could fail, falter, seize up & STOP like it does in apocalypse / post - apocalypse movies & media. THEN WHERE WOULD HUMANITY BE ?

Megan Youngmee's avatar

I concur. I hope we don't have to see it... From seeing the less dependence on technology here In Peru- the people in the countryside are much more resilient. There was a paro-(nationwide strike and massive upheaval 2 years ago) and there was no cooking gas and shore shelves started to empty... The locals shrugged and just started cooking over fires and all have some fields that are cultivated and chickens... The extranjeros (westerners) were in a panic and there was a mass exodus. After living without much tech - many challenging and magical things started to happen. intuition came back... dreams got more vivid... more planning and thoughtful consideration. I even lived without a smartphone for 7 years- and guess what, i survived.... but in some countries... i could see it getting very ugly before basic things would be remembered- like food cultivation, water filtration and collaboration....

I find this idea intriguing and have been dipping my toes in it a few times the last years. Such a beautiful thought to count time and have a sense of time that is in natural rhythm with something real that we relate to in a meaningful way. However, when looking into it I find that the harmonic calendar is not so perfect and obvious as the proponents of it may have it sound. What if each month was a perfect moon and a mathematically perfect 28 days. Yes that would be sweet! But: a moon is 29.5 days... and suddenly the entire argument actually seems... A little foolish 😊 it makes it easier to count that is true and really helpful, especially for the foolish. But connected to the moon? To the natural world in any meaningful way that differs from the Roman calendar? How? There are apparently 12,37 months in a year, which - one can argue - makes a 12 month year a little closer to the truth than a 13 month.

Expand full comment
Alexander's avatar

The basic problem I think is the week. It is really convenient to have a predictable week structure. so convenient that even the harmonic calendar bases its week on it.. And unfortunately 7 days is not close enough to a moon phase.

Nah the basic problem is just that the earth cycle around the sun, its cycle around its axis, and the moons cycle around the earth AND with respect to the sun.. They don't really seem to care that much about dancing in a way around each other that makes neat calendars.

NAH the basic problem is how nature and creation and the creator himself doesn't seem to care about fitting into neat mental models.. Very very disturbing.. He's poking and making fun of our minds, always dodging any definition. Making us look foolish in our attempts to figure it all out.

Actually then.. It is God who is the fool. Poking, making fun, humbling our minds that are greedy for control and understanding and... harmony.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. What I realize is that I seriously over simplified things. There is an amazing clock very old clock in Zurich that seems to have figured out the timing of the celestial bodies as a timing system as well as the Mayans with their many wheels. I do think there is more structure than we realize. I also think time is shifting as we speak. I do think there is a more harmonious time system. I do not think I figured it out with the moon.

Mm beautiful. Yes also today's astronomers can probably model it all down to milliseconds for the coming millenia or something impressive like that 😊 but I suspect the models will be very complex if you want them to describe everything accurately.

I'm glad you have faith! Tell us what you discover 🙏

Just brainstorming about it now, I suspect the harmonious calendar is probably three calendars. The solar, the lunar, and the socially agreed upon calendar with its weeks and months and holidays. Ah and the daily calendar and the socially agreed upon ways to move through a day.

And that the most important part of "harmonious" will be to listent deeply and independently and come to know the way to balance and move through these interacting cycles in a way that is good for you.
