Megan, you yourself are a busy little spider forever weaving tales to feed the healthy hunger in our imaginations. I send you gratitude and thanks for you efforts, which all good writers know are never as effortless as they seem. A good word-web takes time to build!
I was very intrigued and impressed by this post when it was published. Was it a week ago? And now, having thought about it for a while, I find myself still in your web, wanting to add another comment, and this is it:
"Megan, you should seriously consider having this story illustrated and published in book form 'for children of all ages'. It's actually that good, and pictures would really bring it alive."
OH I even researched who owned the Eric Carle books and reached out to some of their vps and a bunch of their publishers. I put together a full pitch the idea to have authors rewrite of Eric Carle’s books and build on his simple but beautiful worlds. I said we should to launch on his birthday and do a full relaunch of his books. What they’ve done with his titles is cut them apart and make touch and feel books for babies.. But he wrote really meaningful content. - “slowly slowly goes the sloth” and Pancakes pancakes are my favorites. I wanted to do a similar art style but more detailed and add more intricate storylines to all of his books :)
wow. thank you. I really really appreciate the encouragement. I’ve submitted it to many conscious kids book publishers but wasn’t able to find a fit yet.. I was looking for an illustrator and even got one comp done but for me to self publish but want to be able to pay an illustrator the right wages. So I’ll see if there is an artist I can find that I can support to make it happen, I’d love to see it become a reality. So far. i’ve taken some steps… I’m new to the publishing game :)
What an incredible gift you have to weave us all together, I felt the resilience as the web was woven again and again…. Beautiful to wake up to here as we head out to weave another day 🤍
I love this Megan although I do have a love/ick relationship with spiders. I find them creepy but am also filled with great admiration for their patience and resilience. As a child I would watch them work from a distance. My favourite children’s book is “Charlotte’s Web”. 😍
Fair enough! I have a complex relationship with spiders. I love them symbollically hehe. I also loved Charlottes Web. Now that I live in the jungle I’m happy to have them around because they really do keep the pesky biting flies away but I’m also open to stomping one if a venomous one comes inside :) My husband said, in nature, if you wander into a bears den, they will protect their family. generally we give them space to coexist. but momma bear will also protect my home.
