Want to know why massage, breath work, workouts, or yoga isn't moving your pain out quickly? It gets blocked at the exit! This section focuses on the Natural Pathways/Channels: how heavy, toxic, and inflammatory junk leaves the body.
Have you ever gotten a massage on a painful shoulder and then your whole arm is sore for the next few days? Most people will do treatments or stretching in problem areas- Hips, Shoulders, Neck, and Knees, but it usually takes multiple treatments to get the pain to reduce even a little bit. Why is this the case?
This part is the “special sauce” and the magic of how our body works as a system.
Most focus the effort on problem areas. But the blocks can’t budge if they don't have a place to move out. It simply can’t find a way out of the body due to the density between the damaged part which is calling for attention and the way out. Most people don’t see how our issues are connected to a larger interwoven network of channels (tubes) and doorways.
There are natural pathways for toxins, inflammation, emotions, and energy to leave the body. It wants to release the heavy, hot, and toxic energy out from the outermost part of us, the part farthest from the heart and organs— feet, hands, head, armpit, our root, and the skin—the sweaty stinky, hard and hot parts. But most people try to shove pains through blocked channels and nothing budges or it becomes a painful process. If you open up the path or channel from the out to the in, heavy and hot energy will naturally and more easily flow outward to leave. Healing goes faster and is less painful.
It’s a lot like trying to brush knotty hair from the tops of the head. The hair will knot more, get stuck, and rip through. Or it’s like trying to get water through a hose, if there are kinks or rocks in the tube you have to unwind the kinks or get rid of the stones for the water to go out.
There is a reason numbness starts at the extremities. There is a reason that arthritis shows up first in the hands. There is a reason people have hot or aching feet. Not only are they symbolic of what we hold on (hands), our grounding (feet), and our connection to the divine (top of the head), but they are quite literally the gateway that allows other old toxins to move out. It’s why they sweat, stink, and get overly cold, clammy or tingly.
Why is it not working properly?
The pain, inflammation and toxin drain to the outermost parts of us and get stuck and accumulate if they aren’t kept soft, open, supple, and flexible. We also use our hands and feet more than any part of us for daily activity and the repetitive motions create blockages.
Many therapists and people have learned through coursework and classes rather than hearing the subtle language of the body. They don’t sense and feel the necessary energy and space needed to move the blockage. Many people have learned to put their healing in the hands of others. They don’t feel like they have permission to get to know and own their own bodies and health. In our overstimulated and medicated world, many of us are a bit checked out of the body- mostly in the head or even disassociated or numb due to endorphins (endo-morphine) killing pain. (we’ll get into the self-protective numbing mechanisms soon)
To be able to sense the subtle electricity, heat, and pain locked up along the channels we need to pay attention and focus intention in the body. This means we are fully grounded, embodied, and have permission to explore with curiosity. Only from this place, we can start to it’s important to start to notice what’s happening inside.
To illustrate how disconnected people are from what's inside them, here's an example. Many times. I have to “wake up” the stored, numbed density first so it can be felt. I’ll press an area that has a common pattern of holding on. People are almost always shocked. "What? I didn't even know I held tension in my elbow or cheek!"
I'll ask, “Where do you feel this? I'm not damaging you, I'm finding the pain that exists inside of you latent. I'm finding the damage that has been numbed. Now, when I press it do you feel where it's trying to move? Where do you feel the heat go? Where do you feel tingles? Where is that subtle energy trying to leave?" Most people will start to feel that little bit of electricity but many will take a few more tries to get the nerves to come back online.
A quick test
To feel this yourself try this: Stretch the head back, look up at the sky, chest high. Pull the shoulders and then relax them, ungripping your muscles in your shoulders, neck and face, completely, letting the weight of the arms fully hang. Pause and feel for 3-5 breaths. You’ll start to feel a movement of heat and aches down through the arms and eventually heat up and make the fingertips feel tingly. You may also feel tension build in the ears.
Most people will feel a tugging or tightness from their shoulders down their upper arms. Some will feel their thumb and pointer finger tingling or hot of the energy if can even get past the elbows.
Many of us are so overstimulated that those subtle feelings will feel non-existent at the beginning. That’s okay. That is why we breathe and start to tune into the body first, noticing and sensing what is going on. It's a practice to relink that mind/body connection and become aware of our inner sensory system.
The Fix
If you want to heal your ankles, knees, hips, tummy, or knees, start at the toes. If you have shoulder pain, neck issues, weight over the heart, or asthma, begin at the fingertips.
When we open the door the next part up will begin to drain down. As you work your way inward, those deeper denser parts the channels will open and leave through the exit points. Little by little go inwards up the limb paying attention to what is dense, painful, and tight You can press and pull the energy downward. Use your eyes to see where there are humps, lumps, dry skin, rashes, discoloration, or lack of circulation (varicose veins and spider veins behind the knees for example).
Many of those old constrictions have been happening and holding for many decades and may need help to break them up manually (beyond the breath, relaxed state, and visualization)
.
I’ll be sharing how to layer therapies (for practitionaers) to help unlock the body much faster so people can start to see 10x and 100x healing and relief. I will add new ways to how to manually break apart densities in layers (there are 10+ ways to break apart different types of density. I'll also be sharing what was forgotten and lost in ancient practices.
But first knowing-Moving knots from the outside first will speed up healing is a crucial part of this system. I get to see people's shoulders drop an inch, help pain disappear in one session instead of 10, and see miracles because I work on hands or feet for 45 min of a 1.5-hour session. It is actually less painful to open the doors before trying to push old stuff through closed gates.
Practical Tool to Start
Foot soaks with Epsom salt and rosemary that will soften the feet and start to open the drainage. It will begin to pull out toxins. Feet will be less swollen, less stinky, and less painful. After, breath and visualization this is always my next step.
Start to stretch and crack the hands and fingers paying attention to the difference you feel in strength and flexibility (it really goes faster than you'd think.)
Pay special attention to joints. Most of the blockages are calcified joints with inflammatory gas caught that will release in cracks and pops (full body chiropractic work or Chinese medicine bone cracking)
Take baths, breathe, and scan (review what's your body, part by part). When you find something achy or tight, breathe a few more times slowly as if you are expanding the area like a balloon then watch it melt or steam off with your visualization. Notice what else tingles, gets itchy, or feels zingy. Start to connect where energy is moving in your body.
Start to press and roll your foot into the ground stretching out your feet and toes. Move your toes around, Look at them. See which ones are more flexible, Which ones have knobs, and which toes are curled in, twisted or swollen. Which ones are totally locked?
Give yourself permission to be curious and touch your own skin. What's underneath? Is it hard? Is it painful? What is tight? What is locked up? What is numb? We need to realize what's going on before we can fix it.
Keep breathing because it is truly the pump for circulating and filling the blood with lifeforce and also brings the mind to a more aware and clear state to see what’s going on inside your literal skin.
If you have an instinct to stretch, move, or breathe in a certain way, listen to it. Let yourself explore and move. So much of the body is instinctual and will actually train you how to release old stuff. If you watch an animal or child who hasn’t been societally trained not to touch or move, they will absolutely teach you how to heal your own body.
Another useful and insightful piece, Megan. Is hand massage good for opening up the doors there?
